5 Ways to Nourish Your Skin in Winter

Winter is a season when your skin can look and feel dramatically different to the warmer months.

Here are five easy ways to ensure your skin is getting the support and nourishment it needs to look fresh and glowing, all year round.

Keep hydrated

Drinking water is obvious skin tip - but how many of us to forget to drink enough water in winter? Inner hydration is essential for healthy, glowing skin, so it’s important to ensure you are getting at least 6-8 glasses each day. If you struggle with water in winter, start your morning with a hot water and lemon juice or, if you’re a coffee drinker, try switching just a cup for herbal tea.

Switch up your routine

If your skin feels tight after using your normal warm-weather cleanser, it's a sign that your skin barrier is compromised. Switch to a gentler or cream-based (not foaming) cleanser instead and avoid taking lot, extremely hot showers. Additionally, try to avoid using harsh, gritty scrubs which can compromise your all-important barrier - switch to a gentle scrub instead. (we love The Beauty Chef probiotic scrub for this reason).

Keep up the SPF

Using a broad spectrum sunscreen is a daily must-have for your face, neck and hands, even if the weather is cool or cloudy. Doing so will significantly help to prevent the signs of premature ageing for the longer-term.

Boost your healthy fats

Foods such as avocado, oily fish, olive oil, nuts and seeds will give your skin an inside-out boost of vitamins and minerals which support your skin barrier year-round.

Invest in the right treatment

For winter, we highly recommend a Hydrafacial (including light therapy), which uses advanced technology to penetrate and protect the skin resulting in long lasting hydration with immediate results.
